About the Seminar
The Department of Zoology, Miranda House, University of Delhi, in association
with the Association of Environment and Development Research (AEDR),
is going to organize a One-Day Seminar on “Climate Change and
Environmental Sustainability.”
The proposed seminar seeks to create a dynamic interdisciplinary platform for
students, researchers, academicians, policymakers, environmental
practitioners, and sustainability advocates to engage in meaningful
dialogue on contemporary environmental challenges and sustainable futures.
The increasing frequency of climate-related crises, biodiversity loss, habitat
degradation, resource depletion, and environmental inequities necessitates
urgent academic engagement and collective action. Educational institutions
play a critical role in cultivating scientific awareness, sustainability-oriented
thinking, and policy consciousness among young learners and future researchers.
Recognizing this responsibility, the seminar aims to bridge the gap between
scientific understanding, environmental governance, and youth
participation.
To further encourage creative expression and engage young minds,
“Green Innovative Ideas” will be organized, providing
participants with an opportunity to pitch innovative and sustainable solutions
to pressing environmental challenges. A poster competition
will also be conducted to harness participants’ creative and innovative
concepts and encourage effective communication of environmental ideas.
Thematic Areas
The seminar aligns strongly with the thematic priorities outlined by the
Association for Environment and Development Research (AEDR).
The seminar directly addresses the following thematic areas:
